I stand at the door of my children's room,
And watch them as they sleep.
I realize what an awesome task,
The Lord has given me to keep.
He's trusted me with such special spirits,
To nurture, raise, and teach.
To measure up to this expectation,
Seems far beyond my reach.
Yet as I watch them sleeping there,
I know without a doubt,
That I will do the best I can,
And He will help me out.
Each of them is so unique,
With special talents they can share,
And I am humbled just to think,
He'd trust me with their care.
I love them each beyond compare,
And each of them loves me too.
Their love for me is another gift,
That make my eyes tear anew.
Lord, as I strive to repay Your trust,
And return the gift of their love for me,
Help me teach each one the things they need,
To become the best they each can be.
